How to maintain a kinky curly weave

Just like natural curly hair, a kinky curly weavingrequires a specific interview. Discover all our advice.

Wash it gently

To wash a weaving, a watchword: delicacy. To do this, mix your shampoo with water in a bottle and then run the mixture over your already wet hair. Gently massage your scalp to distribute the product and rinse thoroughly with cold or lukewarm water. Remember to respect the demarcations between your strands to prevent them from becoming tangled. You can also apply a conditioner using the same technique: this will make your hair shiny and easier to comb.

Tip:  Choose a mild shampoo (at neutral pH) and without sulfates.

Let your weave air dry

Once your weaving  clean, press the points upwards to shape your curls. Dab your extensions with a terry towel and untangle them with your fingers and a wide-tooth comb. It is best to let your weave air dry. If you are in a hurry and wear natural extensions you can also use the cold air breath of your hair dryer (the hot promotes the appearance of bad odors).

Adopt a suitable hair routine

Rubbing against the pillow can damage your weaving: it is therefore essential to protect it before going to sleep. To do this, tie your hair in a slightly loose braid and cover it with a scarf. You can also opt for a silk pillowcase, less aggressive than cotton. In the morning, unwind your lengths, slightly moisten them and gently untangle them, from the tips to the roots.

Tip:  If knots resist you, use a little detangling serum to facilitate styling. Also remember to regularly hydrate your lengths with a hair oil.
